fig-type Type of Figure
Type or format of the figure (for example, “cartoon”,
“chart”, “diagram”,
“map”, “plate”,
“workflow”).
Usage/Remarks
This attribute was created to preserve semantic content when converting from
a standards organization’s existing tag set. Some tag sets for standards make a distinction
between different types of graphical objects, some by means of attributes, others
with distinct elements named for
the type of figure (such as
diagram, line drawing, map, scheme, photograph, or flow-chart). In this NISO STS
Tag Set, all these figure types will be tagged using a single element, the <fig> element. Distinctions between different types of figures can be
preserved using the @fig-type attribute, for
example, by recording the content type of the figure, such as
“map”.
