Unique identifier of the term to which this attribute is attached within a specific vocabulary, such as (but not limited to) an item number, a URI, DOI, etc.

In elements <compound-kwd>, <compound-subject>, <custom-meta>, <extended-by>, <ics>, <ics-desc>, <index-term>, <inline-media>, <kwd>, <named-content>, <nested-kwd>, <release-version>, <restricted-by>, <role>, <see-also>, <subject>, and <term>, this attribute may be used if the element is used.
Value Meaning
Text, numbers, or special characters A unique identifier of the term within a particular vocabulary, taxonomy, ontology, database, index, etc. This is typically a URI or DOI, but it may be any identifier, for example, an item number.
